Did you know that your neck and back pain are probably interrelated?

In my experience, there is a connection between chronic neck and low back pain. Trying to improve neck posture without dealing with any torsional forces lower down the spine, is like trying to straighten the Leaning Tower of Pisa without addressing the foundation. In my book, I outline a simple and manageable self-management protocol, comprising of 4 fundamental exercises and specific habit modification, which can help to make neck exercises and treatment less painful and more effective. After 10 – 14 days, an additional 2 exercises in the car can further increase neck range by ‘lengthening’ the neck and helping to open out the round shouldered posture that tends to hold the neck in the forward head posture common in chronic neck pain sufferers. You are just sitting in the car, waiting at the lights – you may as well be using that time improving your posture !
